Kurt Busch could hold his head high as a Vegas Golden Knights fan.
After winning the pole Friday for this weekend's NASCAR Cup Series race, Busch was asked about the Golden Knights, whose season ended the previous night with a loss in the Stanley Cup Final. It was an emotional first season for the expansion team, which began play not long after the Oct. 1 massacre in Las Vegas that killed 58 people.
"Just being from Las Vegas, my hometown, to have a pro sports team go to the Stanley Cup Finals in their first year was amazing," Busch said. "It was a great ride for the city, especially everything that happened on 1 October. Everything seemed to rally around the Las Vegas Golden Knights."
