Forgive Denny Hamlin if he's a little distracted at Watkins Glen International.

That's because he's on standby in case his longtime girlfriend Jordan Fish goes into labor with their second child, which means there's a chance Hamlin might not be able to try to make it two in a row at The Glen.

"As far as I’m concerned, if and when I get the call I’ll go just immediately. It really doesn’t matter to me when it particularly is," Hamlin said Saturday. "I mean, short of it being in the pace laps, then I would try to run one lap and then come in, but any other time I would just go right away. I’m not really sure how it all will work, but I assume that my people will be gotten ahold of as soon as I need to go.”

Just in case, Regan Smith is on standby, a situation he's all too familiar with. Smith has subbed at The Glen for Tony Stewart _ he finished 37th in 2014 after getting caught in a late crash _ and also has driven for Aric Almirola, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kurt Busch.

A part-time driver this year in the Truck Series, Smith has one win in 211 starts in the NASCAR Cup series. The native of Cato, New York, was Cup rookie of the year in 2008 and that one win in Cup was a big one _ the 2011 Southern 500.

Hamlin won last year's race at Watkins Glen and also has a victory this year, so making the playoffs isn't a concern.
