MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- The pit crew for Chip Ganassi Racing was named the Comcast Community Champion of the Year.

Ganassi's crew  aided the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte this season and beat out charitable efforts from Jimmie Johnson and Brad Keselowski to win the award.

Comcast created the award in 2105 to honor NASCAR industry members for the philanthropic efforts. CGR was awarded $60,000 for the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte and Johnson and Keselowski each earned $30,000 for their charities.

The CGR pit crew team has particiapted in clothing drives, disaster relief cleanup and leads an annual bicycle drive called the "Race to the North Pole," which in 2016 led to the donation of 150 children's bicycles to the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte.
