BROOKLYN, Mich. (AP) — A year ago in the June race at Michigan International Speedway, Roush Fenway Racing failed to put anybody in the top 10.

Trevor Bayne made sure that didn't happen again.

Bayne, who started from the 10th row in Sunday's race, finished in a season-best ninth place. His previous best this year was 18th at both Martinsville and Texas.

"I am really proud of everyone on this AdvoCare Ford Fusion team," Bayne said. "We were able to use the strategy to our benefit and come out of here with a top-10 effort and that feels great for this team. We have been working hard to get up better results all season and to get this ninth-place finish today is a confidence and momentum builder."

The ninth-place showing was also Bayne's best performance at Michigan in nine Sprint Cup races. He had never finished higher than 15th.

His Roush Fenway teammates Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Greg Biffle finished 25th and 36th. The last Roush Fenway driver to win at Michigan was Biffle in June 2013. Biffle finished 10th at MIS last August.
