Lukas Nelson & Promise of The Real is coming to NASCAR weekend at Watkins Glen International in August.
Nelson, the son of Willie Nelson, has been the frontman of the group since its formation in 2008. The band will be the headline act for weekend entertainment offerings Aug. 3-6.
The Friday night concert begins at 7 p.m., after the conclusion of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race.
While NASCAR copes with a continuing decline in attendance and television viewership, Watkins Glen International has provided a bright spot. Although track owner International Speedway Corp. does not release attendance figures, Watkins Glen president Michael Printup announced that the last two races were sellouts (around 100,000), and he's hopeful for another.
"Ticket sales ... remain strong. The growth of our midway is also extremely exciting," Printup said Tuesday. "We're looking at a record number of display partners, driver appearances, and interactive areas for the fans to take in when they're not focused on the racing."
