Pirelli, Mercedes to answer 'Tire-gate' charges

PARIS (AP) — Mercedes and Pirelli must answer charges that they breached Formula One rules by testing tires together.

The governing body of motorsport, the International Automobile Federation (FIA), has convened the hearing of its international tribunal. The disciplinary body will meet in Paris on Thursday and Mercedes and Pirelli have been summoned to appear.

The key issue is whether Mercedes gained a competitive advantage from testing tires with Pirelli in Barcelona from May 15-17.

Power picks up 1st podium of year _ at an oval

WEST ALLIS, Wisconsin (AP) — It took Will Power nine races to finally grab his first podium finish of the IndyCar season.

Oddly, it came at on oval. And even stranger is that some of the Australian's most consistent work this season has been at the three oval tracks. An aberration for a road and street course specialist?
