BROOKLYN, Mich. (AP) — Joe Gibbs Racing remains winless this year in the NASCAR Cup Series.

That said, Sunday's race at Michigan was an encouraging one for at least one of the team's drivers. Denny Hamlin finished fourth for his second-best showing of the year.

"You keep battling in the top five and eventually you'll have your chance," Hamlin said. "Cautions will fall just perfectly for you and pit stops — we know we can gain spots on pit road. We didn't do that really today, but good effort nonetheless."

Kyle Busch, another driver for Gibbs, led for 40 laps before ending up seventh. Matt Kenseth finished 11th.

Busch did win the exhibition All-Star Race.
